MSI-DFAT® provides Direct Field Acoustic Testing (DFAT®) as-a-service for spacecraft. DFAT® is used for acoustic qualification testing of aerospace structures and components.
The DFAT® test setup involves electro-dynamic loudspeakers, arranged uniformly around the test article, to generate a diffuse and well-controlled direct sound field at the surface of the unit under test (UUT).
DFAT® has replaced traditional, expensive reverberant chamber acoustic facility tests (RAFT or RFAT) with an economical and superior alternative for the space industry.
